100th Birthday Congratulations to Mrs Dorothy Cunningham.
If there is a secret to reaching 100 years in good health and well being it could be that Dorothy Cunningham (nee Lyons), an active member of the rural community around Limavady, might have it!
Could it be that she she has been singing in the Myroe Presbyterian Church Choir for 91 years? Or maybe being an active member of Myroe WI for 60 years? Or that every morning on rising she does a few gentle exercises? Or is it thinking of others and their care and well being like, until recently, actively visiting people in local care homes….’to chat with the elderly’ she’d say despite the fact she is many years older than most of them. Or perhaps it’s that she doesn’t let a day go by without having a good laugh about something. Mostly likely it’s a bit of all those!
Born and raised in the townland of Crindle, near Limavady, she worked in the Post Office and was widowed nearly 40 years ago. That she is so fondly thought of by so many was most apparent when it took several parties (all be it several small Covid-friendly parties) for all who know and admire her to be able to say Happy Birthday!
Helen Mark DL, who has known Dorothy for 40 years, was delighted to be at one of the parties representing the County’s Lord Lieutenant Mrs Alison Millar to present birthday wishes from Her Majesty The Queen.
