Honours - How to nominate


Honours lists are published twice a year at New Year and in mid-June on the date of The Queen’s official birthday.  Honours lists contain a wide variety of people from different backgrounds, communities and organisations.


Order of the British Empire


  • Any member of the public may nominate a person for a National Honour – be it a friend, volunteer, co-worker etc.   Multiple positive and representative citations increase the likelihood of a nominee being recognized. It is important that the outstanding contributions people are making in the County are acknowledged and in particular, the efforts made by those in the voluntary sector.    Read more about the honours system which is an informative article
  • The Lieutenancy is anxious to encourage members of the public to submit nominations. However, it has limited influence over the processing of nominations, which normally take at least twenty-four months.   If assistance is required, please contact the Clerk to the Lieutenancy
