Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022

The Lord-Lieutenant of County Londonderry is deeply saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who so selflessly dedicated her life to Service of our Nation.

A period of mourning will last until the day of the Funeral Service.

All Lord-Lieutenants continue in the office as Representatives of the New Monarch, His Majesty the King, in their respective Counties and County Boroughs. The Lord-Lieutenant and the Lieutenancy is now liaising with the Lord-Lieutenants Association in London, the Local Authorities in the County and the High Sheriff. As information becomes available it will be posted on this website and on royal.gov.uk.

The Lord-Lieutenant and the members of the Lieutenancy extend their deeply felt condolences to His Majesty the King and the Royal Family.

The proclamation of His Majesty King Charles III took place on Saturday the 10th of September 2022.

He was formally proclaimed monarch at an historic Accession Council in the State Apartments of St James’s Palace at 10am on Saturday.

A second proclamation took place in the City of London at the Royal Exchange at midday on Saturday the 10th September. There will follow Proclamations in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales at midday on Sunday.
