In Coleraine, Limavady and New Buildings beacons were lit on the 2nd July 2022 at 9.45pm, as they were across the UK and the Commonwealth, to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The Lord Lieutenant Alison Millar lit the beacon in the ceremony at The Diamond in Coleraine, Helen Mark DL was asked to carry out the duty in Drunceatt Square, Limavady town centre and Leona Kane DL lit the beacon in the landscape surrounding New Buildings. Mrs Millar and her Deputy Lieutenants were honoured to be part of this significant moment and thank Causeway Coast and Glen Council for co-ordinating event
