VE80 Commemorations

The Lord Lieutenant of County Londonderry, Mrs Alison Millar, attended a series of events as part of the VE80 Remembrance events in Coleraine. As Honorary Colonel of the 152 (North Irish) Regiment RLC she was hugely proud to take The Salute as Bands and Regimental personnel marched past. And in the advancing dark of the evening she stepped forward to Light the Beacon in the town square. A hugely symbolic way to mark the end of the War in Europe and with thoughts for those from across the County Londonderry whose lives were lost in the many theatres of war.

Mrs Millar wanted to express her thanks to the Councillors and personnel of Causeway Coast and Glens Council who worked so hard to organise this event, it was she remarked ‘a evening of wonderful remembrance’.
